Letting Go

I can’t become who I wish to be until I can let go of being whoever it is that I currently feel I might be. (Ngakpa Chogyam & Khandro Dechen. Spectrum of Ecstasy: Embracing the Five Wisdom Emotions.)

Wishing you peace and well being as you let go of who you think you are.

P.S.  Hold the one’s you love just a little closer and tighter this week.

This reposting of "Two Horses" is in memory of my niece Whitney Paige Carlson who died Saturday, July 14, 2007.  She was sixteen.  She loved horses.  Although we may not hear her playful voice, I know she will always be near.  We love you Whit and will miss you greatly.

Two Horses

Just up the road from my home is a field, with two horses in it. From a distance, each looks like every other horse. But if you stop your car, or are walking by, you will notice something quite amazing. Looking into the eyes of one horse will disclose that he is blind. His owner has chosen not to have him put down, but has made a good home for him. This alone is amazing.

If nearby and listening, you will hear the sound of a bell. Looking around for the source of the sound, you will see that it comes from the smaller horse in the field. Attached to her halter is a small bell. It lets her blind friend know where she is, so he can follow her. As you stand and watch these two friends, you’ll see how she is always checking on him, and that he will listen for her bell and then slowly walk to where she is, trusting that she will not lead him astray. When she returns to the shelter of the barn each evening, she stops occasionally and looks back, making sure her friend isn’t too far behind to hear the bell.

Like the owners of these two horses, The universe does not throw us away just because we are not perfect or because we have problems or challenges. The universe watches over us and even brings others into our lives to help us when we are in need. Sometimes we are the blind horse being guided by the little ringing bell. Other times we are the guide horse, helping others see. Good friends and relatives are like this. You don’t always see them, but you know they are always there. (author unknown)

Wishing you peace and well being Whitney, and all that have known her.

The Two Wolves

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside  people. He said, "My son, the battle is between 2 wolves.

One is Evil. It is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego.

The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, "Which wolf wins?"  The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed. (Author unknown)

Wishing you peace and well being as you face your battle.

Authenticity

To be authentic is to stop imitating who we would like to be and touch the earth of our original authority right here, right now, fully and completely, and acknowledge who we are already. (Michael Carroll.  Awake at Work.)

Wishing you peace and well being as you stay present, opening yourself to who you are.
